My testimony:

I was born into a Christian home and my parents are missionaries in the community. I went to Sunday school and my parents read me the Bible at night before going to bed. I said the prayer to accept the Lord when I was 4 years old with my dad. I did not fully understand what I was committing to. I took part in helped at VBS and the nursery when I was in elementary school. I got baptized on my 10th birthday which I will always remember.
When I was in high school, I attended from grade 8th to 10th. I learned a lot about the Bible and hearing testimonies. Two years ago, I understood God wants a personal relationship during the ups and downs not just focusing on the sins in my life and following the rules.
I was praying for a Bible study to go for about a year. This year, I have been in a young adult’s Bible study with Surrey Alliance. I have not been able to make it for the past 2 months. I am going back again and really enjoying it. I volunteered at Alpha. I helped set up, clean up and attending the course which was just held at our church for the past 7 weeks. I enjoyed hearing  the encouraging messages which proved many bible verses. Also, hearing what the group got out of the talk during the discussion.
I got into missions when I was 16 years old. On my first mission trip, I wanted a challenge, travel and adventure. Once I went on my first overseas trip, I loved learning about the culture, trying the food and saw how generous the people in the community where. I learned so much from the people, including how happy they were, grateful for us being there and welcoming us with open arms. I was grateful for flush toilets, hot water and being able to drink clean water at home. So when I got a chance to go to Haiti, I was excited for a new adventure and challenge. I enjoyed getting to know the children and staff I was helping with. I learned so much from the community and culture. I had a different outlook on life. I was grateful for running water, drinkable water, hot showers, gravel roads, and having a loving family.
Oversea mission experiences:
My first overseas trip, I went to Mexico with the Evangelical Free Church district when I was in Grade 10. I went to Hermosilla  and helped put on a Vacation Bible School. The first week, we got to know the community, and build as a team. We did a small building project where we made concrete to make a flat floor surface for the small one room church. We also helped prepare crafts and advertise for the VBS in the community. The send week, we helped the youth in the church run VBS. I learned about the culture, learned a little Spanish, had an opportunity to build relationships (I didn’t know anyone on the project), and trusting in God.
My second overseas trip, I helped at an orphanage in Haiti. My one month duration in 2007, was an amazing experience. I helped at an orphanage called, “God’s Littlest Angels”  in Port au Prince. I was assigned to 8 children and played with each of them for an hour each day. I would bring them to a patio, playing with toys, reading stories, singing songs, cuddling, developing gross motor skills, developing social skills,  making them feel loved and special. One child I became close to had HIV. We worked 5 days a week for 8 hours. The children I helped with were infants to 5 years old.
Trusting and having failth in God:

About 2 years ago, I was spiritual attacked. I had put painting and artifacts from Haiti in my room. I also was around friends’ houses who played dungeon and dragons there. I started to feel a presence around me. Someone screamed in my ear one night and I could hear conversations but no one was there. I saw blue eyes staring at me when I was in bed. I saw a black shadow go across my floor. I was scared of my house when I was alone even during the day. I got one of my mother’s friends to pray for my room. I camped out on my sister’s floor and slept there for 3 months until I was able to change rooms. I got to a point where I could not take it anymore. I trusted in God and He gave me a sense of peace. Then it left and I felt safe again sleeping alone and being in the house by myself. Many people don’t believe the stories I tell them. I believe it was a spiritual attack and I overcame it with God’s help. I thank God for how he helped me feel safe again and a sense of peace. He is an amazing God!
